Round 1 of the 2023 AusCycling NSW/ACT CX Series sees the return of Cyclocross to the mounds and sand of Heffron Park on SUNDAY, 14 May, with special prizes up for grabs for all mothers who race!
The event will be run from the finishing straight of the Heffron Park criterium track and feature a range of grades suitable to participants dipping their toe into CX racing for the first time, or seasoned Euro-dirt hogs alike.
Grade suitability is as follows:
C Grade/Open – new to cyclocross? – any bike is welcome, though we recommend a MTB, cyclocross or gravel bike.
B Grade - any bike is welcome, however MTBs or flat bar bikes will be started in a separate wave, and will not be eligible for overall series points. CX or Gravel bikes are recommended, with 35mm tyres preferred in the spirit of CX, but wider tyres (i.e. 38-40mm gravel bike tyres) will be accepted.
A Grade - all bikes must be CX bikes (drop bars) with a 35mm maximum for tyres strictly enforced.
Femmes and men are paid equal prize money in their respective divisions, with all mothers going in the draw for Spa packages!
All riders must be registered with AusCycling (day licence is ok) and are issued with a transponder for timing purposes. Pre-event registration will help with administration and ensure that you're entered to race in the correct grade. To find out more information, including start times, click here.
HEFFRON CX has quickly become one of the club's biggest racing events. We warmly invite you and your friends watch (and participate) in the fun of CX. We've got a DJ, beers, coffee, food, drones, fantastic photographers, plus lots of cyclocross. This event could not happen without the energy and drive of Robbie Allen and on behalf of all of us at Randwick Cycling, we thank Robbie so much!
